Welcome to the Official Web Site for Duluth’s Dislocated Worker Employment Programs

Training and Skills Development

If you are a dislocated worker and you lack sufficient occupational skills to become reemployed at a comparable wage, the Dislocated Worker Program has limited funds available for retraining.    The dislocation may have resulted from a declining industry or from a declining occupation.  You may possess obsolete skills or skills that have limited transferability in the marketplace.

If you feel you need additional training before you find suitable employment, contact a Dislocated Worker Counselor prior to enrollment.  Training programs can be as long as two years or as short as one day.  Work with your counselor to discover which training program is right for you.

You can contact the Dislocated Worker Program by navigating to the “Contact Us” page for email and phone information.   You can make an appointment to see a Job Counselor.  Once an appointment has been made, make sure when you come in to bring with you the following information --

  • Driver’s License or I.D. Card
  • Social Security Card
  • The layoff letter or notice you received from your employer
  • Your Resume
